Once I made the life-changing decision to seek a divorce, I knew I was going to need some help and guidance. Lauren was the perfect fit for me in that she was able to share her legal knowledge about the divorce process with me, but also could provide me with the needed emotional support and validation I needed along my journey. I started my sessions with Lauren feeling lost and finished our time together confident and hopeful. I am so grateful and I would recommend any woman going through the divorce process meet with Lauren!
California Online
Divorce Mediation
Save Time, Money & Energy
Don't let a stranger in a black robe decide what's best for you & your family
Resolve Your Divorce the Smart Way.
You’ve likely heard divorce horror stories from friends or family about how their divorce took forever to resolve, cost a fortune, and they didn’t get what they wanted in the end. The average traditional divorce case in California can cost $50,000 or more per spouse, take 2 or more years to resolve, and be emotionally costly for you and your children.
There is a better way to divorce. A smarter way.
Online divorce mediation is a peaceful process that is faster, less expensive, more convenient, and allows you to maintain control over the outcome and cost of your case.
Experience the Key Benefits of Mediation:
Divorce Done Differently™
Faster
Divorce mediation with us can be completed in an average of 3 months. Some people need more, some need less.
Less Expensive
We offer affordable, flat-rate fees. Our average flat-rate divorce costs $5,500 and is payable in installments.
More Control
Maintain as much control over the outcome as possible. Don't let a stranger in a black robe decide your future.
The Online Mediation Process
You will meet with one of our experienced California divorce mediators to tackle issues such as property division, spousal support, child support, parenting, insurance, and many others. You will attend regular sessions with the mediator from a comfortable location and efficiently work through the process toward a resolution and a better tomorrow.
Because we offer flat-fee billing arrangements, you can focus on getting your questions answered rather than on how much your uncertain hourly fee bill will be at the end of the month.
Sounding like a good option? Learn more about the process by reviewing each step below:
Step 1: Schedule a Consultation
Schedule a time for us to meet via Zoom with you and your spouse to discuss whether mediation with Sensible Split Divorce is right for you.
Step 2: Attend the Consultation
We will meet with you and your spouse via Zoom to determine if we would be a good fit to work together. We will answer any questions you may have about the mediation process.
Step 3: Sign Agreement to Mediate & Make Payment
To begin the mediation process with us, you will sign an Agreement to Mediate and make your first payment.
Step 4: Schedule & Attend First Joint Session
During our first joint session, we will take care of important housekeeping issues and lay the groundwork for a productive mediation process. Attend from the comfort of your own home or another convenient location.
Step 5: File Initial Documents with the Court
If a divorce case has not already been opened with the court, we will prepare the documents to do so, have one spouse sign them as the Petitioner, and have them processed by the court. Alternatively, this step can be completed later in the process, if desired.
Step 6: Complete & Exchange Financial Disclosures
You will work to complete the financial disclosures required by the State of California (there is not an exception to this for mediation or any other legal process involving both spouses). Once completed, those disclosures will be exchanged between you and your spouse.
Step 7: Schedule & Attend Remaining Joint Sessions
We will work together to identify the issues in dispute, options to resolve them, and facilitate communication and a resolution. The number of joint sessions will be determined by you and the mediator based on the number and complexity of issues in your case.
Step 8: Reach Agreement
We will aim to reach an agreement on all issues in dispute.
Step 9: Settlement Agreement Preparation & Review
We will prepare a draft settlement agreement and send it to each spouse to review independently outside of a session to ensure adequate time to review it and consider it before signing. Although not mandatory, we encourage each party to review the settlement agreement with an attorney before signing.
Alternatively, if you have an attorney who you wish to have draft the settlement agreement, we can prepare a Memorandum of Agreement for them.
Step 10: Entry of Divorce Judgment
Once the settlement agreement and accompanying judgment forms required by the court are signed by both spouses, we will file them with the court and provide a court-processed copy to both parties.
Contact us today to schedule a consultation to take the first step toward a faster, less expensive divorce process. We are here to guide you through the process in your time of need.

What Our Clients Are Saying
I started my sessions with Lauren feeling lost and finished our time together confident and hopeful.
Katie S.
She is understanding, yet no-nonsense and helped to keep me on track with the overwhelming tasks of starting over.
Lauren was an amazing support to me during the beginning stages of my divorce when I had no idea what I was doing. Her non-judgmental, “stop beating yourself up” approach was exactly what I needed. She is understanding, yet no-nonsense and helped to keep me on track with the overwhelming tasks of starting over. She helped me focus on the positives in my life and gave me strategies and tools that fit with my particular situation. I will forever be grateful to have been able to lean on Lauren through this emotional and difficult process.
Megan B.
When I was stuck on decisions, she was able to talk through all the possible outcomes to help guide me towards a decision without pressuring me one way or another.”
This was my first time ever going through a divorce and my ex had done it 3 times. He was great at manipulating and knew what he was doing. I had no idea. Lauren was able to provide me with all the info I needed and guided me when I had NO idea. I never would have been able to get as far as I did without her. Lauren was very supportive and helpful! Lauren was able to provide me with peace when I was stressed by explaining the next steps and reassuring me that what I was asking for wasn’t anything ridiculous. When I was stuck on decisions, she was able to talk through all the possible outcomes to help guide me towards a decision without pressuring me one way or another.”

Lauren Fair’s expertise, empathy, compassion, and thoroughness were a grounding force for me during a traumatic time.
Lauren Fair’s expertise, empathy, compassion, and thoroughness were a grounding force for me during a traumatic time. Compounding the typical stressors of divorce were the realities of fundamentally different parenting styles. I often found myself lamenting to Lauren. She served impeccably . . . to the point where Lauren also became a confidante.
